Rental booking tips and tricks:
Cost saving strategies:
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Booking your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Reserve your rental property in the Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Many property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Filter your rental search:
- Start by having your group agree to dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Beautiful pet friendly townhome! Enjoy Myrtle Beach with the whole family! has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible online. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before booking the home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is right for your family.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach destination you love, browse properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
Advice for your stay:
- Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of issues.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Upon arrival, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on good reviews to inspire more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
