Strategies to get the perfect vacation home experience:
Sticking to your spending budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides have offers and deals for local tours and attractions.
How to select the best vacation home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. 2nd Floor Serenity in an Oceanview Room has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before booking the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what bed configuration is suitable for your family.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach destination you long to visit, keep an eye out for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs applied to your invoice.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- At Check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of difficulties.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
