Rental property booking tips:
Get the most from your vacation rental budget:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Summer is high season in Myrtle Beach. To get the best rental within your budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have money saving offers on local shops and restaurants.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Start by choosing a vacation week and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. 2nd Floor Serenity in an Oceanview Room has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible online. Otherwise, contact the property management company before you reserve the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what is optimal for your trip.
- If your family is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Request specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental while you're out. Keep your property safe!
- Make a record of any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a great source for finding the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on good reviews to drive more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your review find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
