Strategies for getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Reserve your rental home in Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Some property management companies offer rate reductions for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines contain discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

How to select the best rental home:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. 2nd-floor oceanfront condo with views, AC - snowbird-friendly has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is often available online. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before you book the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to work out which bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
  • Does your group require particular amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or may be applied to your contract.

Additional considerations:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the rental manager immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a excellent stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
