Strategies to get the best Myrtle Beach rental experience:
How to get the best value:
- Summer time is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is a good way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers typically offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have money saving offers on local tours and attractions.
How to select the perfect rental home:
- Choose your vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Beautiful 2BD condo in seaside town with lots of resort amenities has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the host before booking the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
During your stay:
- Add the host's contact info to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make certain that no damages are attributed to your stay, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. Contact the property manager right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many problems.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to stimulate more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
