Strategies to get the best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer time is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation home in Fall or Spring months is a great way to save on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites often offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Choosing and booking a perfectrental home:

  • Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. 2nd-floor oceanfront studio with pool, hot tub, & AC has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before you book the property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Additional considerations:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of issues.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
  • During arrival, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a wonderful time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
