Tricks and tips to get the very best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Getting the best rental home value:
- Summertime is high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes.
- The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Some property management companies offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guides have discounts for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Begin by selecting a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. 2nd-floor oceanfront studio with pool, hot tub, & AC has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before booking the vacation property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
During your stay:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- At Check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect your property!
- Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
