Strategies to get the best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Find your perfect rental home:
- To get the best value, try shifting your family's Myrtle Beach vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides have discounts for nearby tours and attractions.
Planning, selecting, and booking your prefect Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Start by choosing a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. 3 Bedroom Cottage with a short walk to the Beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property owner before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- During check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental while you are out. Protect your property!
- At departure, take a walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
