Tips and Tricks for getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to book:
- Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a great way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain discounts for local tours and attractions.
Selecting and booking your Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and choose a budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. 12th-floor oceanfront dog-friendly condo w\/shared pools, hot tub, WiFi, & AC has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking pages. If not, email or call the property management company before you book your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation group.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach beach you love, browse rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
More tips for your visit:
- We recommend storing the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Record any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if a dispute is filed.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
