Booking the best vacation rental experience:
Get the best value:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Booking your rental property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Book your Myrtle Beach vacation in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Property managers frequently offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

More considerations for your visit:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of problems.
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible resource to find the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to compel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
