Vacation rental tips and tricks:
When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental & When to go:
- Summertime is high season in Myrtle Beach. To book the largest rental for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have discounts for nearby tours and attractions.
Filter your search:
- Choose your vacation week and maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. 3 Min Walk to Beach l Great Location l 9 Palms has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking pages. Otherwise, email the host before you book the vacation property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- Are you visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some hosts charge additional pet fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During arrival, note any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peace. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
