Tricks and tips to get the best rental experience:
How to get the best value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To find the best value, try changing your vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides that include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Choosing and booking your prefect Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Begin by choosing vacation dates and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Pristine Beach Getaway with Patio, Free WiFi, Washer-Dryer & Central AC has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before you reserve the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to establish which bed configuration is suitable for your trip.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
- Make a record of any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if a dispute is filed.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a wonderful time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
