Our top Rental home tips and tricks:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- Summer time is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the most suitable rental home for your budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Myrtle Beach restaurants and activities.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Often, property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Finding the best vacation home:
- First and foremost, have your family decide on date ranges and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Paramount Plus\/Oceanfront\/Best Location has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. If not, email the property manager before you reserve the home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the owner's contact information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- During check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of issues.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- On check-out day, take a walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a fantastic stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
