Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Myrtle Beach. To get the best value, change your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Property management companies often offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.
How to choose the best vacation rental:
- First and foremost, have your group choose a vacation week and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. 300 Steps from beautiful Myrtle Beach has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking websites. If not, email the host before booking the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is optimal for your vacation.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach beach you are crazy about, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or may be applied to your contract.
Advice for your stay:
- Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- To make sure damages are not attributed to your family's visit, record any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the host immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
