Strategies to get the optimal Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Sticking to a rental budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To find the best value, consider changing your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides have coupons for nearby tours and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- To start, have your group choose date ranges and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Upscale Oceanview 1Br Dog Friendly! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property owner before you reserve the rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach attraction you crave, keep an eye out for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs applied to your agreement.
More considerations:
- Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
- Upon arrival, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a wonderful vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
