Rental booking tips:
When to go & When to book:
- Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation home in Spring or Fall is a good way to save on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties.
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides have discounts for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select vacation week and spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. 3BR in Sand Dunes Resort, Ocean Front Great Views! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before booking the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach attraction you crave, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
Have a great stay:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Record any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if there is a dispute.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
- Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on great feedback to inspire future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
