Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental & When to go:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in Myrtle Beach. To find the best value, shift your family's Myrtle Beach trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, , and reduced traffic.
- Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have discounts for local shops and restaurants.
Make a plan and pick the best Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- First, have your group commit to trip dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. The Twins at OceanReef 3BD Oceanview Condo has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available online. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before you book the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to determine which bed configuration is best for your family.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many concerns.
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- To make certain damages are not linked to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during arrival. Call the property manager immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a terrific stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
