Strategies to get the perfect Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Getting the most from your spending budget:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the most suitable rental for your budget, we recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Myrtle Beach attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain discounts for local shops and restaurants.
Filter your search:
- Start by choosing your a vacation week and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family requires. 3rd-floor oceanfront condo with AC, pool, hot tub & WiFi has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. If not, contact the property manager before reserving your home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Know before you go:
- Get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- At Check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great stay? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
