Our top Vacation rental home tips:

When to book & When to go:

  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking in Fall or Spring months is a great way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Some property managers offer special rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Many management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which will include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Choosing the perfect rental:

  • Choose a designated group leader, choose your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. 3rd-floor oceanfront studio with AC, balcony, beach views, hot tubs, pools, gym has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. If not, email the property owner before you reserve the rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a specific Myrtle Beach beach you long to visit, keep an eye out for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking

Additional considerations:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many problems.
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • To make sure damages aren't linked to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. message the host immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on good feedback to compel new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
