Tips and Tricks to get the very best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Sticking to your rental home budget:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. Reserve your vacation in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning, picking, and booking the rightrental:
- Choose your vacation dates and max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. 4 Bedroom Cottage in the Shore Drive section has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible online. If they are not listed, call the property owner before you reserve the rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation family.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach attraction you are crazy about, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
More considerations:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Upon arrival, note any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few concerns.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific resource to find the best local attractions.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a terrific vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
