Our top Myrtle Beach rental home booking tips:
Sticking to a spending plan:
- June, July, and August are high season in Myrtle Beach. Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines have coupons for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Narrow your rental Search:
- First and foremost, have your family decide on trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Seaglass Escape - Oceanfront, North Tower, King Bd has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible online. If not, contact the property management company before reserving the rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is best for your vacation group.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or charges may be applied to your invoice.
Additional considerations:
- Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Upon check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on good ratings to drive new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
