Tricks and tips to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Finding your perfect rental home:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the best rental home for your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Myrtle Beach restaurants, beaches, and activities.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Property managers often offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Often, rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which often include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Choosing the perfect vacation rental:
- Start by having your group select date ranges and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. 4th-floor oceanfront studio with AC, WiFi, pool & hot tub - snowbird-friendly has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking pages. If not, email or call the property management company before reserving the vacation home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is optimal for your group.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach attraction you long to visit, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Additional considerations:
- Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
- During arrival, record any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- On check-out day, take a walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a great vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
