Tricks and tips to get the optimal Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Getting the best rental home value:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. To get the best value, try changing your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Make a plan and choose your prefectrental home:
- First, have your group decide on trip dates and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. 4th-floor oceanfront studio with AC, WiFi, pool & hot tub - snowbird-friendly has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property owner before you reserve the home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach beach you are crazy about, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- If your group is bringing pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the property manager right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great time? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
