Our top Rental home tips and tricks:
Get the best value:
- Summer months are high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation rental in Fall or Spring months is a great way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property managers offer special rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to select the perfect vacation home in Myrtle Beach:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and choose a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. 4th-floor ocean-view studio with AC, WiFi, pool & hot tub - snowbird-friendly has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the rental manager immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many difficulties.
- Be respectful. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a wonderful time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
