How to book the best vacation property experience:
When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to reserve a rental home:
- Reserve your Myrtle Beach rental property in Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides contain deals for local tours and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Choose your vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Relax 200 yards from the Atlantic Ocean has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Additional considerations:
- Add the host's phone number to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make sure damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, record any problem areas upon your arrival. message the property manager immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
