Our top Myrtle Beach vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
Get the most from your budget:
- Summer is the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. To get the best vacation home within budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Some property management companies offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have coupons for nearby shops and restaurants.
Planning, selecting, and booking your Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Choose a group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. 4th Floor, Oceanfront, Snowbird-Friendly Studio w\/ AC, Shared Pool\/Hot Tub, WiFi has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the host before booking the rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your group.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach attraction you simply love, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or costs may be applied to your agreement.
Some things to know before you go:
- Get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- During check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a great source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a fantastic stay? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
