Getting the best vacation home experience:
Sticking to a rental budget:
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Summer is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, consider changing your trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which will include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to select the perfect vacation home:
- Begin by selecting your the best vacation week and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. 5 Star Beach Condo With a Spectacular View! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available online. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before booking the home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach destination you simply love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
Have a great stay:
- Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a excellent stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
