Our top Myrtle Beach rental property booking tips and tricks:
How to get the best value:
- The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To find the best value, try shifting your family's Myrtle Beach vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Some property managers offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Often, management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and select a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. 5th Floor Bliss: 3 Bedroom Condo Spectacular View has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you reserve the rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.
- Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
Considerations for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few problems.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Record any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if there is a dispute.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to stimulate future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
