Our top Vacation rental home tips:
Sticking to a budget:
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Often, rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which will include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and choosing your prefect Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- Choose vacation week and max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Oceanfront 3 Bedroom\/2bath at SeaWatch Resort has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before reserving the property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what is best for your vacation.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach attraction you simply love, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More considerations for your visit:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few issues.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Note any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to propel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
