Our top Myrtle Beach vacation rental tips:

Money saving strategies:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To book the most suitable vacation home within budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Myrtle Beach attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Some hosts offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain deals for local shops and restaurants.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Select your vacation week and spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. 5th Floor Getaway Angle Ocean View 3BR Condo has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally available online. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a specific Myrtle Beach destination you are crazy about, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Know before you go:

  • Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few problems.
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • At departure, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a terrific time? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
