Tricks and tips to get the best Myrtle Beach rental experience:
When to book a Myrtle Beach rental & When to go:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, try changing your family's Myrtle Beach trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines contain deals for local shops and restaurants.
Choosing the perfect vacation home:
- Select dates and maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Oceanfront Three Bedroom Condo 12th Floor has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible online. Otherwise, contact the property owner before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs could be applied to your contract.
Tips to have a wonderful stay:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- Record any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on good reviews to inspire more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
