Tricks and tips to get the perfect vacation property experience:

Finding the best rental value:

  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, shift your family's Myrtle Beach vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property managers usually offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Many property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Begin by selecting your vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. 5th-floor oceanfront studio with AC, pool, & hot tub has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the host before you book the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what configuration is right for your vacation family.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's a certain Myrtle Beach beach you love, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking

Know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Store the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many difficulties.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect your property!
  • To make sure damages aren't linked to your visit, inspect for any problem areas during check in. Contact the host immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be respectful. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a wonderful time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
