Rental property booking tips and tricks:
Sticking to your spending plan:
- Summer is high season in Myrtle Beach. Book your Myrtle Beach rental property in the Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Selecting the best vacation home:
- Choose a group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. UPDATED UNIT - Beach Getaway Unit 431 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property management company before reserving your home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Does your group require unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
- Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Add the property manager's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Record any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to inspire future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
