Tips and Tricks for getting the best rental experience:
When to book a Myrtle Beach rental & When to go:
- Summer is the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the largest rental for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Property management companies typically offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines have discounts for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Make a plan and choose a perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. 6th-floor ocean-view studio with AC, pool, hot tub & WiFi - snowbird-friendly has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you book your rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is right for your vacation.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach attraction you simply love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Record any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect your property!
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
