How to find the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- To get the best value, consider changing your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides have money saving offers on nearby tours and attractions.
Planning and picking your prefectrental home:
- First and foremost, have your family decide on dates and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. 6th-floor oceanfront studio with pool, hot tub, & AC has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before you book your rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
- Are you visiting for a single event? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
More considerations:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
- During arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would at home.
- On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to propel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
