Tips to get the perfect Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Get the most from your budget:
- The sooner your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Myrtle Beach. Reserve your Myrtle Beach rental home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Selecting the perfect vacation rental:
- Choose your dates and budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. 7th-floor studio with AC, pool, & hot tub has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible online. If not, contact the property owner before booking the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is optimal for your group.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach beach you simply love, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Additional considerations:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
- At Check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a great stay? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
