Myrtle Beach vacation rental tips and tricks:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Summer months are high season in Myrtle Beach. To book the best rental for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Finding the perfect vacation home in Myrtle Beach:
- Select your dates and max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Ocean View Comfort
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible online. Otherwise, email the property owner before you reserve the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is suitable for your family.
- Visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or charges might be applied to your agreement.
Know before you go:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your .
- Record any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are assessed.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on great feedback to propel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
