Tips to get the perfect rental experience:
Sticking to a budget:
- The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked very early. Booking your rental property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Booking your vacation home in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have coupons for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Planning, selecting, and booking your prefectrental:
- First, have your family commit to vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Brand New - Oceanfront Views, Pools, Modern Decor! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the host before reserving your rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges may be applied to your contract.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
Additional considerations:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Put the host's information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect your property!
- To make sure that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, note any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the property manager right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peace. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a fantastic time? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
