Myrtle Beach vacation rental tips and tricks:
Cost saving strategies:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- June, July, and August are high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Make a plan and pick yourvacation home:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. 7th-floor studio with pool, hot tub, & AC has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the host before reserving the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what is best for your vacation group.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or costs applied to your contract.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach beach you love, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
Advice for your stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few issues.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Document any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific source for finding the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a great time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
