Booking the best Myrtle Beach rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes.
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Some property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain discounts for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Select a group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. 8th-floor ocean-view studio with AC, WiFi, pools & hot tubs - dog-friendly has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before booking your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what is best for your vacation family.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach attraction you crave, keep an eye out for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- Document any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of issues.
- Be respectful. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on great reviews to drive more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
