Tricks and tips to get the very best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is an excellent way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines contain deals for nearby shops and restaurants.
Planning, selecting, and booking the perfect Myrtle Beach rental:
- Select your dates and budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. 8th-floor ocean-view studio with WiFi, pool, hot tub & gym - dog-friendly has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking pages. If not, email the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach attraction you love, keep an eye out for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
Tips for a fantastic stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Record any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are assessed.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a terrific vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
