Rental property booking tips and tricks:
Sticking to a budget:
- Summer months are high season in Myrtle Beach. To get the most suitable rental home for your budget, we recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have deals for nearby tours and attractions.
Filter your rental search:
- Start by choosing your a vacation week and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. 8th-floor oceanfront snowbird-friendly studio with pool\/hot tub, AC, WiFi has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before you book the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- To make certain that no damages are attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. Call the property manager immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peace. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a great vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
