Tricks and tips to get the very best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To get the best value, try changing your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guides have offers and deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Choosing the perfect vacation home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. 9th-floor oceanfront condo with wonderful beach views, hot tubs, pools, gym, AC has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before reserving the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your trip.
- If your family is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly rental. Ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach destination you crave, search for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
During your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- Document any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and scan for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a wonderful time? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
