Our top Rental home tips:
Cost saving strategies:
- To find the largest rental within your budget, we recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain discounts for local tours, shops, and attractions.
How to select the best vacation home:
- To start, have your family decide on vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Very Deluxe Oceanfront Second FL 2BR\/2BA Condo has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before you reserve the home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what is optimal for your vacation family.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs applied to your contract.
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the host's information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, note any problem areas during check in. text the host immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a wonderful time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
