Tricks and tips to get the best vacation rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Summer is the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best rental within your budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Myrtle Beach attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies often offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Many management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Choose your dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. 3rd-floor ocean-view studio with pool, hot tub, AC & WiFi - snowbird-friendly has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible online. Otherwise, call the property management company before reserving the home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what is best for your family.
- Visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
- Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Document any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peace. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on good feedback to compel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
