Getting the best vacation property experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is a good way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Some property management companies offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites usually offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain discounts for nearby tours and attractions.

Selecting the best rental home in the Myrtle Beach area:

  • To start, have your family choose vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Minutes to golf course and beach has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before you reserve the rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what bed configuration is optimal for your trip.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • If there's a certain Myrtle Beach destination you long to visit, search for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.

During your stay:

  • Get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many problems.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
  • Upon check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peace. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a great time? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
