Tricks and tips to get the perfect vacation rental experience:
How to get the best value:
- The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Summertime is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the largest rental for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Myrtle Beach restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides that include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- First and foremost, have your group decide on a vacation week and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. A Cozy Place By The Beach, Large Updated 2 Bed, 2 Bath, 5 min walk to the beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the host before you book the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Get information on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach destination you simply love, browse rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
More considerations:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many problems.
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Upon arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to compel more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
