Our top Myrtle Beach rental home tips and tricks:
How to get the best rental value:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserve your rental home in Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Property management companies usually offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Many rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which often include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Start by choosing potential vacation weeks and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Sunny 1BR condo, Myrtlewood has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the host before you book the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what is optimal for your family.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- If your family is traveling with pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
During your stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your .
- To make certain damages are not linked to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. Call the property manager right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few concerns.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a terrific vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
