Tips and Tricks for getting the best rental home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have coupons for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Choosing the best vacation home:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your dates, and select a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. New Oceanfront 1BR with Heated Pools, Coral Beach! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available online. If not, contact the property owner before booking your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is optimal for your group.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach beach you crave, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.
Have a fantastic stay:
- Get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of issues.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a excellent stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
