Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation home experience:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Book your Myrtle Beach vacation in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Many management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select your dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. STEPS TO THE OCEAN, THREE HOT TUBS & TWO HEATED POOLS has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the host before booking your rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
- Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the property manager's information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
- Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to stimulate new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
