Our top Myrtle Beach vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
Get the best rental value:
- Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain offers and deals for local shops and restaurants.
Planning and choosing your prefect Myrtle Beach rental:
- To start, have your group commit to dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Above the Shoreline Deluxe 1 Bdrm King Ste 8th Flr has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available online. If they are not listed, call the property manager before reserving your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers charge additional pet fees.
Know before you go:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Note any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
- Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a excellent time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
