Our top Myrtle Beach rental property booking tips:
Getting the best rental value:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are high season in Myrtle Beach. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is an excellent way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Many property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Filter your rental search:
- First, have your group choose a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Above the Waves 3rd Fl King Suite Spectacular View has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before you book the property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what configuration is suitable for your family.
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
- Visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Know before you go:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of problems.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute is filed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
