Tips to get the perfect vacation home experience:
Finding your perfect rental home:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. Reserve your Myrtle Beach vacation home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines contain coupons for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Select vacation dates and spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Best Little Secret in Myrtle Beach, 2 Bedroom 2 Bath Condo Ground Floor Unit has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property manager before you book the property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is right for your family.
- If your group is traveling with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Considerations for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many issues.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
- To make sure no damages are linked to your visit, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. text the rental manager immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Just before checking out, take a walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to inspire more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
