Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Get the most from your spending budget:
- The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal SC. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and select a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Adorably Updated Ocean Lakes Home! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More tips for your visit:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
- Document any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a great stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
